Lying slightly to the north of Eyemouth, both villages boast breath taking coastal scenery.
Coldingham is home to a beautiful beach which is a favourite location for surfing, canoeing and windsurfing as well as those looking to paddle and sunbathe. The Berwickshire Coastal Path is in close proximity to the beach and is part of the route to Eyemouth and St Abbs. Coldingham Priory was founded in the 11th Century and is now the only major medieval Church in South East Scotland.
The village of St Abbs (formerly known as Coldingham Shore) houses a beautiful fishing harbour lying next to the St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve. Administered by the National Trust for Scotland, the nature reserve is home to a 50,000 plus strong seabird colony, families of seals and various other flora and fauna varieties. The sheltered shore at St Abbs offers deep water and strong tides and is a haven for some of the best shore diving in the UK. St Abbs was recently transformed into New Asgard, the home of Thor, for the Avengers series of movies.
The nearby village of Reston saw its railway station reopen in May 2022 after being closed in 1964. The railway connects the surrounding area to Edinburgh and Newcastle via the East Coast Main Line.
Both Coldingham and St Abbs are served by Coldingham Primary School with secondary education at nearby Eyemouth High School.
The villages of Burnmouth, Reston, Auchencrow, Grantshouse and Ayton are all close by.
